Ethics

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703735804575536370151720874.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_sections_opinion

This one comes down to ethics.  I read this article and I see the progressive left targeting business that create jobs for us, provide energy, help our retirement investments grow historically at twelve percent, and provide products we want.  This is Rules for Radicals, Saul Alinsky techniques of picking a target and freeze, attacking and destroy it.  I think this is quite possibly a problem with both parties.  I would say that Democrats do it twice as hard and twice as much.  But ideally we should focus on electing honest, principled people to serve and not so much be a politician.  And we fight corruption where ever it is found.

Take two cases.  The first case is regarding Gov. Mark Sanford had an affair and was caught.  He violated the ethics he touted and the ethics of his office and party.  He should have done the right thing and resigned.  The party should have demanded it.  Moral problems do affect how he governs, where is the trust.  The second case is regarding Rep. Charlie Rangel has an ongoing financial investigation.  The evidence is stacked against him, but he was again put through by his constituents to the November ballot.  I think he is innocent until proven guilty.  I do hold the democrat party responsible for not conducting the investigation and reaching a decision in a timely matter, now passing two election cycles, I think to keep the bad news out of the press in elections.  He should resign if he is guilty.  Both cases are examples of playing politics and clinging to power and ultimately it is up to us as voters to hold them accountable come election time.  That goes for politicians changing their tune when the election season comes around.  It is common sense, it is that simple, it is essential.  Time to raise the bar.

Nine American Principles

These are principles that I believe our country was founded on.  They are principles of a Christian nation, though should be tenets of many faiths.  If you agree with seven of them we have something in common that we can build upon.

1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person that I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My Spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

Obama's Lies are Typical Liberal Lies

One the news I heard this report quoting President Obama's speech in Wisconsin blaming Republican for the recession.  He wants voters to ask themselves "do I want to invest in our people, in our middle class and making it stronger, and our infrastructure and our education system and clean energy -- is that one vision, or are we just going to keep on doing the same things that got us into this mess in the first place."  There are two parts I would draw our attention too--His plan and the blame.

Obama says he is investing in our people, middle class and infrastructure, education and clean energy.  Raising taxes on the middle class in the form of increased health care cost and with environmental legislation they are going to ram through, increased energy costs.  He also will allow the Bush tax cut expire which is a raise in taxes.  I don't think money is well spent toward infrastructure and education so throwing more money at it is not necessarily a good thing.  And clean energy is unproven and not cost effective, and only will be when the competitive market gets there.  I think President Obama's progressive policies are making the recession longer than what the "somewhat" free market economy would correct.  Raising taxes prevent private investment to grow the economy, increase spending straddles generations with crushing debt, and redistribution of wealth steals money from one pocket to give to another, not really growing the economy either, and is mostly a payoff to his donors and supporters the unions and liberal organizations.

Now to the later part, the blame.  What things happened under the Bush years and republican led Congress that were bad and led to the financial crisis?  This is a very misunderstood subject, and I am going to let the comments answer it.

Happy Constitution Day!

That's right today is Constitution Day.  There are so many unofficial holidays, and most are for fun or for the elected official that decreed it to tout his stuff.  But this is a particularly good one to observe.

This day is actually called Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.  We celebrate being an American and those that immigrate to our country and become citizens.  This would solve the whole immigration debate if these immigrants could more easily become lawful citizens.  I am proud that my wife's uncle who has been Canadian for nearly five decades of living in the U.S. became an American.  My professor that worked closely with on my thesis became a citizen after two decades of living here while I was working with him.  And I have a sister-in-law from Peru that is about to become a citizen.  I admire these people who have worked hard to improve their lives and have found opportunity in America.

Now with the progressive left marching forward with their agenda at a rapid pace it is important for Americans to know the Constitution so that they me seize the power that inspired document guarantees.  WE THE PEOPLE was not a font error; it was a bold statement to England and the world that we are a free and empowered citizenry.  It is up to us to preserve that power, otherwise the Constitution is just a piece of paper.  The government is taking power and placing burdens on the American public.  Our greatest power is in our ability to fire the government.  Though revolution and force is explained in the Declaration of Independence, I an not talking about that.  I am talking about elections.  This is a critical election to shift the direction the country is going, like the shifting of the tides this is massive.  We are diverting a larger river in one year.  I am also not referring to democrats and republicans.  Conservatism is the answer.  Conservatism is the founding principles that this country was founded on: small government, low taxes, free markets and individual liberty.

I challenge each of us to read the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States of America again before November 2nd.  We need to become an educated public.  Use these documents as your measuring stick for the candidates on your ballot.  There are many wrongs to be corrected that the progressives have planted firmly like cancer that will be hard and painful to remove, but we must.  It will take honorable leaders, and yes, even elected officials--politicians; men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan.  Please take this challenge.

Marlin's Two Cents

My friend made a good point.

"When many American jobs were on the line, when people were concerned about getting the ax, President Obama and the Democrats proposed sweeping overhauls of the banking, manufacturing, health care, and education systems of the country [and energy is next] in the name of stimulus thus saddling the people with future debt, increased taxes, and more government control for years to come.

"When many democrat congressmen jobs are on the line, when Obama and his democrat associates in congress are concerned about getting the ax, President Obama is proposing business tax cuts and less regulation to stimulate the economy and create more jobs.

"You can't say the liberals don't know what works.  They are not stupid, they just think we are."

Well said Marlin Smith.

Secret Combination

Let's talk about the biggest secret combination in the United States.  The conservative talk show hosts that I follow have talked about this.  It is not as secretive as a gangs or mobs, but it is much more ruthless and impacting, they have hijacked one major political party here and have the other setup to be an accomplice.  They are masters a political spin and mass population manipulation.  This is a fundamental transformation of America and a shift towards a weaker USA and more of a global governance.  This is Lucifer's plan on the a national and global scale.  Much like the Germans quest for world domination and the spread of Communism, this is Marxist principles moving to control in the progressive socialist movement.  Push everything to the left politically, market it as cool and mainstream, and take advantage of crisis to pass major legislation that is very difficult to repeal.  This movement has been going on since Woodrow Wilson, it is the progressive movement.  The secret combination is far reaching, it is currently the Executive Administration, the Democrat party leadership in both houses of Congress, a group of prominent Republican (though probably in ideology not secret combination) politicians including the Bush presidents and John McCain, a large number of special interest groups, political action committees, mainstream media including a large number of journalists in the JournOlist scandal, scientist in the global warming scam, and hollywood.

In total these people represent a minority, a small minority.  Overwhelmingly the population of America are conservative in there politics and social issues.  We are a religious and generous people, still.  I would say that political correctness and disintegrating values have corrupted the population have led to ignorance and indifference in politics.

Now for the heart of the secret combination that is not just ideology, but action that in my opinion is evil.  Check it out:

WARNING! - These are from Conservative sources and they do not claim to be unbiased.  They are critical of our royal president Barack H. Obama, and claim he is a socialist.  They do back up their points with sources though.

Feel free to leave a comment and start further discussion.  The more light spread on this the better.

Federalism

These articles were sent to me by a friend. They are really good. Education is the key to restoring our country to its founding. The progressive left is pushing transformation. Their man, President Obama is moving things at a rapid rate. True Americans need to get educated and support the restoration of the Consititution and the system of federalism. We say limited government, power of the people, and liberty. I agree with Rob Bishop that federalism accomplishes all of these. Take a read:

Deficits and Who is at Fault

The Heritage Foundation is a research group that is fiscally conservative, and highly accurate. The following link is to a bar chart and explanation of the recent federal government deficit spending.

(http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/)

The links may go back to other sources within the Heritage Foundation, but eventually you find the government source of the figures cited.

The following link is from the ultra-conservative Washington Post and all the tabs are interesting, especially the first one.

(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/budget-2010/index.html)

(It is amazing that there is not more holler in the media and at home about the out-of-control spending, I guess we are on board or pacified)

It is Congress that controls the budget and is mostly to blame. Republican presidents are to blame as well as democrats because they did not veto these busted budgets. I contest that the Bush's, father and son, are not conservatives, though better than Obama, but they have their own progressive ideas. And in the last 32 Congress' (64 years) there have been 44 years when the Democrats have controlled both houses and 52 years that they controlled at least the Senate. See the following link for this data.

(http://uspolitics.about.com/od/usgovernment/l/bl_party_division_2.htm)

When comparing which party has control of congress and deficit spending there is a pattern. In 1947 and 1948 the Republicans had both houses and there was no deficit spending for the first time in 17 years. There when they took control of both houses, after 47 years of Democrat control of one or more often both houses, in 1995 through 2006 deficit spending began to be reigned in until the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and subsequent Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Making this point here credit may be given to other periods of war, including the Reagan presidency. A better way is to budget and spend in the black and have savings for the time when war is necessary. This is what households call an emergency fund. Another factor is the ebb and flow of the economy and this can also be see on the deficit chart. Though this is easily magnified into the red by government spending. We need to return to fiscal responsibility and limited government.

Agenda and Hypocricy

I don't necessarily disagree with agenda, but I do disagree strongly with the Obama Administration agenda, which I believe is to destroy America's government and economy as it was founded. It was founded on limited government, individual freedom, and the capitalist system and a free market. Obama's agenda is the progressive agenda. It is shared with labor unions, communists, socialists, and radicals. The agenda is to transform America though increasing the size and power of the federal government, attacking the private business sector and crashing the economy to create crisis for which revolution may occur. Think Chavez.
I do disagree with hypocrisy. This was plainly evident in this exchange with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and and an unidentified reporter on July 7, 2010. Text below.

(http://www.breitbart.tv/reporters-question-on-obamas-illegal-immigration-policy-leaves-gibbs-stammering/)

REPORTER: Now there are dozens of so-called sanctuary cities that have their own policies that might potentially conflict with federal law supplements like Governor Brewer to say that if Arizona's in violation of federal law, then so are these localities. So my question is why did the president then ask [ the Department of Justice] to look at Arizona and not everywhere?

GIBBS: Let me -- I don't know the answer to that but I will try to seek some answer on -- some answer on that.

Of course Gibbs had no answer because the thought had not even occurred to the administration because they are not about justice, they run the department of justice with the policies of their agenda, and not the rule of law or justice in mind. This is also evident in the New Black Panthers voting rights case being dismissed.

Assault on Liberty

There are four articles that detail the assault on liberty. These came out on July 1st and 2nd. Analyzed together they show the breadth of the progressive movement and how organized and infiltrated they are in the top decision makers of government.

First, "Walmart CEO Pay: More in an Hour Than Workers Get All Year?" ABC News
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/walmart-ceo-pay-hour-workers-year/story?id=11067470
This article is about the debate over a new Walmart store in the Chicago area that was approved, but labor union leaders wanted the ununionized Walmart to pay more and provide better benefits. This is organized unions trying to take liberty to run a business. Assault on the Free Market.

Second, "Chicago Approves Tough New Handgun Restrictions" FOX News
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/07/02/chicago-approves-tough-new-handgun-restrictions/
This article is about Chicago city restricting peoples second amendment rights to bear arms and defend themselves, limiting gun owners to carrying a gun only within their home. Crime rates will predictably rise, especially gun violence. This is a violation of the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Assault on the right to bear and keep arms.

Third, "House Democrats 'Deem' Faux $1.1 Trillion Budget 'as Passed'" Human Events
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=37893
This article is about the Democrat leadership using parliamentarian tricks of "Deemed Passed" on a budget that has not even been presented. This is a move that undermines transparency, is dishonest, and avoids debate that will likely harm Democrats in this falls elections. This is corruption and recklessness by the Democrat leaders. Assault on our system of representation and responsible government as established by the Constitution.

Fourth, "Pelosi: Unemployment Checks Fastest Way to Create Jobs", FOX News
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/01/pelosi-unemployment-checks-best-way-create-jobs/%20/
This article is about the false policies of socialism and backwards logic of social programs of welfare. Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims that unemployment benefits should be extended, seemingly indefinitely, to create jobs. This is ridiculous. This is a lie. Assault on common sense and other founding American values.

It was overwhelming to read one article after another all from one day. It is amazing that these are mainstream ideas. Isn't this why we had a revolution, established a Constitution, and fought many other wars, including the Cold War. I believe Americans are not like this. The mainstream media and many politicians are out of touch with American values. We are not Progressives; we do not want socialism.

These articles when looked at all at once demonstrate that the progressive movement has hijacked the Democrat party and parts of the Republican party. Progressives want to destroy the capitalist system that made this country the world economic leader. Progressives want to shred the Constitution and establish Socialism. Socialism does not guarantee citizen freedoms and rights, or protect the people from a tyrannical government. Progressives lead the unions, both houses of Congress and the White House Administration. They must be voted out ASAP.

A Contradiction Conundrum?!?

I would like to know your thoughts first.

Why would the leftist leaders of our federal government and the media insist that terrorists captured abroad be given Miranda rights, but want to deny a US citizen (Time Square Bomber) the same rights?

An Extreme Ideologue

There is a movement afoot, a conservative ascendancy, that is sweeping the nation. I hope it has the strength of determination to take over both houses of Congress and the Presidency, the drive and focus to repeal 100 years of progressivism, and reestablish this nation as the beacon of freedom, and release the capitalist system for ours and the worlds prosperity. And I hope that this tital wave will instill fear into the politicians still possessing a soul and a spine to stop the transformation of our nation into socialism.

As you may have heard that Utah Republicans gave Senator Bob Bennett his retirement.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz, elected in 2008 had this to say, "My victory two years ago led a lot of people into believing that Bennett could be in trouble. When people saw I was able to unseat a 12-year incumbent, they realized they could be beat [long time incumbants]."

Chris Cannon, who lost to Jason Chaffetz, had this to say after Senator Bennett lost, "You have extreme ideologues (that me) who took control of the party and drove normal people out. It's a problem that we have to correct." Cannon argues that the current political climate rewards invective and opprobrium. He goes on to note his disconnect with the people and that he is not a true conservative. "They learn to hate people who are in government, not understanding how it works. It is very clear there is a mass movement in America. They are ignorant. But zealous in what they are doing. Sarah Palin is not helping us as Republicans get control of Congress. I'd be talking to the center. Then you develop an ethos from the center."

Chris Cannon ran as a Conservative Republican for 7 campaigns. Now that he has lost his power and moved on in life he reveals his true colors. McCain is from the same ilk, and he is put forth as a leader of the party. This must change. This is happening from the ground up, commonly refered to as a grassroots movement. I have chosen conservatism because of its correct principles. Soon I will define the stratege for this movement.

PC to Excess

I have mentioned that political correctness has the underlying purpose to silence opposition and destroy debate. It is anti-free speech. It is politically correct to protest the War on Terror at a soldiers funeral, but not correct to wear the American flag bandanna or t-shirt.

http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local-beat/Students-Wearing-American-Flag-Shirts-Sent-Home-92945969.html

How ridiculous! Cinco de Mayo is not even celebrated all over Mexico. A co-worker who is Mexican was explaining yesterday that the day is in remembrance of a battle in Puebla over the french. It is not a Mexican national holiday, it is not their Independence Day (Sept 16). It is basically a day for marketing beer and food sales. It is another over-commercialized holiday. Things like the incident at Live Oak High School mentioned in the linked article need to be fought and stopped. This is ridiculous.

Another incident in the news recently was the Comedy Central: South Park episode that mentions Mohammad. A episode was going to have a joke referencing Mohammad. The creators and network received death threats over this and the episode was edited to remove the reference. Then an attempted terrorist car bomber tried to blowup the entrance to their New York building last weekend. Now there is news of Comedy Central doing a Jesus Christ show where he just wants to live a normal live in New York and His Father is playing video games.

http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.com/2010/05/comedy-central-developing-jesus-christ-cartoon-series.html

So it is wrong to joke about Islam and fake Mexican holidays, but it is okay to disrespect Christianity? No it isn't. They have a right to say it. I will defend their rights. But socially their is a hypocrisy that is unacceptable. Well I am not a racist, I am not violent, and I am not silent any more.

Illegal Immigration from South of the Boarder

There is much argument over Arizona wanting to enforce the law, federal law of immigration. Reports of President Obama investigating the constitutionality of the law (yeah right!) and denouncing it (probably with out reading it). I have heard Mexican President Calderon " slams Arizona Immigration law (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2620239020100426). Well this is the gist of the Mexican Illegal Immigration Law and it is actually enforced with them deporting more people than we do:

  • in the country legally;
  • have the means to sustain themselves economically;
  • not destined to be burdens on society;
  • of economic and social benefit to society;
  • of good character and have no criminal records; and
  • contributors to the general well-being of the nation.

The law also ensures that:

  • immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;
  • foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;
  • foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country's internal politics;
  • foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;
  • foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;
  • those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison.

"There is one simple test"

Ezra Taft Benson said what he considers a test to judge what the Government should do and not do besides what is explicitly stated in the Constitution of the United States of America:

"There is one simple test. Do I as an individual have a right to use force upon my neighbor to accomplish this goal? If I do have such a right, then I may delegate that power to my government to exercise on my behalf. If I do not have that right as an individual, then I cannot delegate it to government, and I cannot ask my government to perform the act for me."
(The Proper Role of Government, Ezra Taft Benson, The Eisenhower Administration - ed. Published in 1968, http://www.latterdayconservative.com/articles/ezra-taft-benson/the-proper-role-of-government)

How does this test apply to different functions of Government, those that they should do and not do?

Recently salt is to be regulated to force companies producing food to reduce salt usage. I cannot force a restaurant or a company to put less salt in. I can choose not to participate. Welfare as the Government does it is theft, not charity. It is forcing a group to help others. This is not emergency relief that comes from a natural disaster. It is creating dependence on the the dole, the opposite of what it claims to try to do.

I am trying to know what the government should do besides enforce the law, establish and maintain a judicial system, provide for the military, and establish a currency system. Can someone help me?

Addressing Crisis Locally

A friend of mine posed the question while visiting Ground Zero in New York City. "What will be brought out of us in [moments of crises]? How will you respond in moments of crises?"

This was my response:

"What would I do in a crisis? I am not sure. I have been fortunate to not have lived through a crisis. I have talked with one lady that did and helping others is what I would hope I would do. I am confident that that would be my response. As Clint, my friend, mentioned at "Ground Zero" I see us dealing with far greater things in our day-to-day lives. My circle of influence, is it better because of my actions? May it be so."

I feel with the major issues of our day being answered with progressivism. The crisis is the loss of liberty, opportunity and prosperity in our country. More and more of our individual freedoms are being infringed upon.

Now, I cannot change the socialist structure that is our federal and even state government, but I can educate myself and talk to others. I think we all need to get involved on the local level. I became a county delegate because I want conservatives to take back the country starting with my local level. It may not be our natural tendency to go to a city council meeting or run for delegate in our local precinct. I know I would rather be with my family. It is for my family that I am involved. That is not just a cliche, but my believe.

My mom gave me advice on how to stir a bowl. She said, "focus on the edges and the middle will take care of itself." She was right. The local level is the edge, and the federal government is the middle and will naturally follow. We will seize the opportunities to shift the country in the right direction, day be day. My hope is we will succeed in stopping the freight train of this federal administration and majority in both houses of Congress from running us off a cliff.

Growing Old

As each day passes we slowly grow old and our bodies are in decay most of our life. One day we go to play basketball and seemingly we have grown old overnight. We've realized we're not as young as we once were. This happening with our society and country.

I think it is amazing how normal all of these things of socialsim, corruption, waste, and loss of freedom or prosperity have become. It is more than just our oppressive big fat government. It is all aspects of society: the media, entertainment, business, consumerism, religion, communications in neighborhoods. Are we going to give in by quitting to do the things we used to do, accepting the way things have become, or are we going to eat better and exercise, and take back the life we had as individuals, families, communities, and a nation, and work to restore our freedoms? I am starting to restore things by not being censured with political correctness and educating myself and other open minded, honest, and freedom-loving people. I may ruffle a few feathers, but that is my cost for freedom, a small one compared to the fallen soldiers and founders of this great nation.
