Illegal Immigration from South of the Boarder

There is much argument over Arizona wanting to enforce the law, federal law of immigration. Reports of President Obama investigating the constitutionality of the law (yeah right!) and denouncing it (probably with out reading it). I have heard Mexican President Calderon " slams Arizona Immigration law (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2620239020100426). Well this is the gist of the Mexican Illegal Immigration Law and it is actually enforced with them deporting more people than we do:

  • in the country legally;
  • have the means to sustain themselves economically;
  • not destined to be burdens on society;
  • of economic and social benefit to society;
  • of good character and have no criminal records; and
  • contributors to the general well-being of the nation.

The law also ensures that:

  • immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;
  • foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;
  • foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country's internal politics;
  • foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;
  • foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;
  • those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison.

  1. This Arizona law is fascinating. If the law stays in place, we could see the full effects of it here in Utah as many illegal immigrants would likely make their way north to the more illegal-friendly state of Utah.

    As to the constitutionality of the law, I heard Mike Lee interviewed on Glenn Beck yesterday say that there was nothing in the constitution that prevents individual states from taking matters of immigration into their own hands (especially when the federal government fails to do one of the few duties it is specifically assigned in the constitution). So it will be interesting to see if the state of Utah takes similar action.

    Speaking of Mike Lee, he seems like he would be a politician that actually knows and follows the constitution. I am leaning his way with my vote for senate.

  2. I like your comments Jeff. I agree that that we will feel the effects. Rush Limbaugh suggested that AZ governor provide one way vouchers for bus and train tickets to sanctuary cities, much like New York did for their homeless.

    I liked Mike Lee's response too. Jeff, are you a state delegate. That is going to be one exciting convention on the 8th. I would like to read the bill from Arizona to judge for myself. As I understand it simply charges law enforcement to do what the feds should be doing. The feds are not doing it because Democrats need the votes and welfare state to exist.

    Bob Lonsberry thinks that Utah will never have the same law as Arizona on immigration because of the LDS Church.
